The foods I eat are extremely simple. I dont eat anything that has been processed, or altered by man in any way. So pretty much raw fruits, raw veggies, and then tuna, shrimp and sometimes grilled chicken. But I never add anything to it, not even salt, and I dont eat cooked food, or food recipes, Its just..plain and simple healthy food, the way God made it. My main concern isnt avoiding animal products, but avoiding the chemicals and oils that are put into processed foods. I get tired of trying to explain it to everyone, and it seems to be similar to the raw food diet, but I hate to call it that because im not on a diet..It would be a lot more simple if I could just say "im a.... whatever-tarian" and leave it at that. So, does anyone know if there is a name for this or not?
thanks :)Is there a name for someone that only eats unprocessed foods?
I don't think there's a name, maybe you could call yourself Macrobiotic? How you eat sounds similar to the diet.Is there a name for someone that only eats unprocessed foods?
No, not really any name for that, except probably healthier than people who eat processed foods.
Just because someone asks you a question doesn't mean you have to answer it, you can just deflect it. Nobody should be asking you to explain your diet to them. The best response is "Oh, I don't eat that" but why? "because I just don't" This stops all discussion of it. Polite people do not probe and pry into the lifestyle choices of others, so you never need to answer them.
There is a diet exactly like that called the "Neanderthin" diet. It consists of ONLY eating what you would find if you were stuck alone in nature and had no tecnology. So I guess you could call yourself a "Neandertharian". You would just have to get passed the "Neanderthal" comments. When people ask, you simply say you only eat food as it was 10 000 years ago.Is there a name for someone that only eats unprocessed foods?
There isn't a name for it but...
If your friends asks just say I'm a 'Uns'prosterian'
and say it with an accent (French preferably), then you get to explain what it is after they ask 'Whats a unspronnteristians???'
And you even get to look cool in front of them.
A raw-ist maybe? Not sure if it counts because you eat grilled chicken. Or you could just say that you follow the Rastafarian diet, ital.

Diet = plan for eating.
It doesn't always refer to losing weight.
i know people like you who avoid processed food, but excluding meat also.
So I think raw/natural/fresh food eating programme .
You chose the name :)
Macrobiotic, which is exactly that, unprocessed, whole natural foods.
On this forum there is a name for everything. Some correct, some incorrect and some just pure fantasy.
I don't know but how can you cook with no salt? I can't imagine how bland the food is.
I think the term is "smart eater", though it's not an official term. There are some raw foodists who do eat raw meat and eggs. You could consider Eskimos raw foodists even though their traditional diet consists of very few plant foods.
Remember, however, that there are some plant foods that are practically indigestible when raw. Grains come to mind. I also think potatoes and tomatoes can actually be more nutritious when cooked.
And don't be too paranoid about fats and oils. Fats, especially animal fats, can be very good for you. Even the widely demonized saturated animal fats have nutritional benefits. Cholesterol is also a vital nutrient for the human diet.
So continue to eat well and don't forget to exercise regularly.
sorry hun but if you are controlling what you eat, you are on a diet (i'm a vegetarian, which means i control what i eat by not eating meat = i'm on a vegetarian diet. i only eat vegetarian food)
and also i'm sorry to tell you that tuna ESPECIALLY, and chicken both contain chemicals that were not put there by what you call 'god' . mercury is high (in fact, almost 10% of all canned tuna exceeds the FDAs limits on mercury, so be careful), and mercury can cause such things as learning delays in kids, and nerve damage in adults. also, chickens are often given hormones (to speed their growth), and antibiotics (so they wont get sick from all the dead and decaying chickens who grew up too fast %26amp; couldnt support their own body weight to get to the food) ... this means they're not 'unprocessed' in the way you're describing it. in fact those things are all processed in that they went through a process of being caught / farmed, killed, skinned, cut up, and packaged.
i'm not trying to make any of this sound gross or anything (believe me i'm not into converting ppl to vegetarians), i'm just letting you know you're not really on an unprocessed diet.
also, hopefully all the fruits / veggies / meat you eat is certified organic.. that is the most true form of unprocessed. finally, salt is extremely natural! it occurs in the oceans and you can collect pure sea salt for eating by simply using your hands to splash ocean water on a piece of wood or whatever, and letting the water evaporate, then putting more water on, %26amp; eventually you get salt build up (because salt cant evaporate like water). sallt is natural %26amp; you should be able to use it in your diet. plus its so yummy. and its very healthy to get a normal amount of salt - your body needs it.
good luck with ur friends.
I have not heard of a true name for your diet... just say you are a raw foodist. I personally don't believe if needing a name/title to separate yourself from the rest. If we did, everyone would have different titles going around. (EX: I don't eat gluten, sugar, red meats, pork, chicken, stuff with seeds, dairy products, whole grains, ect.... it would be a mess)
I assume you also eat a portion of GM Foods, round-up corn, soybeans, ect... a large portion of foods in the US are GM. Unless organic specified.
You don't eat canned/bagged tuna do you? (The ones on the shelf?) The canned tuna undergoes a canning process and the bagged stuff (basically ones in a pouch) likely undergo a HPP process or possibly irradiation.
If you buy the frozen shrimp or the fresher stuff (if it's pink, instead of black/gray) It's already cooked.
Also, grilled chicken is a cooked product/food.
I'm not trying to put your way of life down, I'm just pointing out contradictions.
One processing method I would recommend (a processing method is really anything done to change the appearance/textuce/water activity/ ect of food) is freeze drying. Freeze drying removes water by placing the items in a area with lower pressure (via vacuum), heating up the products at a low temperature so that a frozen product sublimates (phase change directly from ice to vapor) and the vapor is removed from the system.
Not all processes are bad, nor do they involve adding chemicals (reguardless how harmless they are, GRAS for example).
