This is a serious question but I am resigned to having to filter out all the health lectures and negative comments.
Anyone on a raw food diet will understand the health benefits and I would appreciate any good simple recipes.
And, before anyone says it, raw pork is not gonnan kill you!
Thanks.Eating raw meat? Any recipe suggestions?
Some information for those of us who didn't know...
Something to consider
Raw food purists do not eat meat or fish, even raw preparations such as tartare, carpaccio and sashimi. Though these are indeed raw foods, some feel the parasites carried by raw fish and meat are damaging to the body and counter the health aims of a raw food diet. They also worry that, with regard to fish, ocean contamination known to collect inv the fatty deposits of fish is passed on to sushi diners, again working against the purification aims of eating raw.
However new-school raw foodists do make room for a broader range of raw foods including raw or unpasturized dairy products, raw eggs, raw fish and raw meat, arguing that humans have evolved to eat this array of raw foods going back to the Stone Age and that evolution hasn鈥檛 had enough time for us to adapt to a world of processed foods. These eaters claim to get more calcium, protein and vitamin D than plant-only raw foodists, though debate rages over the subject.
My take:The main rule, I would think is: Know your sources.
Most pork today is safe. It is processed to kill many of the bacteria that cause illness, but do you know exactly where your meat comes from? Is it worth the chance?
My favorite raw beef recipe is Steak Tartare.
Make sure the beef is good quality (sirloin?), lean and very fresh. ie. Aged beef has the best flavor, but it should be nice and red, not brownish.
Mix it with chopped onions and bell pepper and a bit of sea salt and some coarse-ground black pepper. I'd skip the raw egg (though it's traditional). Again, unless you know your source, Salmonella is always a possibility.Eating raw meat? Any recipe suggestions?

Wow. You have no idea how food borne illnesses work. Eating raw meat absolutely can kill you or make you very sick. Sorry for the lecture, but you really need to hear this!!!

I like raw beef, though I really wouldn't trust raw pork.
A beef carpaccio is a good dish, where you roll the beef very very thin, season with salt and fresh tomatos and a drizzle of lemon juice and sour cream.
saute it for flavor
That is not healthy. Unless your doctor told you to, do not do that. Please!
eww gross.
ym

probably wouldnt eat raw meat any way and people that
think its cool to do so are out of touch with reality
HMMM.. Raw food diets doesn't mean uncooked. It means pure, unprocessed, and natural.
Cook the meat! "Raw pork is not gonna kill you"???? WTF, tell that to the people who die every year from E coli and salmonella poisoning.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated in 1999 that 73,000 cases of E. coli O157:H7 occur each year in the United States. Approximately 2,000 people are hospitalized, and 60 people die as a direct result of E. coli O157:H7 infections and complications. The majority of infections are thought to be foodborne-related, although E. coli O157:H7 accounts for less than 1% of all foodborne illness.
Every year, approximately 40,000 cases of salmonellosis are reported in the United States. Because many milder cases are not diagnosed or reported, the actual number of infections may be thity or more times greater. Salmonellosis is more common in the summer than winter.
Children are the most likely to get salmonellosis. Young children, the elderly, and the immunocompromised are the most likely to have severe infections. It is estimated that approximately 600 persons die each year with acute salmonellosis.
