The only thing he wants to eat is human food such as table scrapes (parent's give it to him, even though i told them not too). I'm really concerned with his food issues and i'm stressing on what to feed him everyday.
If anyone can please help me with this problem asap!
MUCH THANKS!My dog won't eat his food?
starve him and he will eventually eat anything you give him.My dog won't eat his food?
hes gotten so used to recieving table scraps that human food is what appeals to him now. Spice up his food with maybe some bread, bland beef, boneless and skinless chicken, bland white rice, chicken juice, beef juice etc. just dont feed him too much or he will gain weight fast. You can also slowly wean him off it, putting less and less in his meal each time. He will slowly get used to the dog food again
i have a dog that stopped eating, i took him to the vets to get him checked out (he was getting really skinny). what happens was he ate what looked like a rubber ball, which got trapped in his intestine, he also smelled badly too, now hes fit as ever, so my advice is to take him to the vets ;D hope thia helped. Try taking him to the vets just to make sure he is well and not allergic to anything. Try a different brand of dog food and give him lots of love and attention.
It depends if you feed it to him outside OR inside?!
If you give him canned or kibble ,or even together, together is the best for my dog!!!!!!!My dog won't eat his food?
I dont see a problem.
REMOVE all human food and give him dog food.
He's a dog..he will eat when hungry.
...Maybe Give him a bit of people food inside his dog food for a couple of weeks and let that slowly die down....He's just a bit spoiled...
He'll grow out of it if you help him
He'll eat when he's hungry, leave the food down for him. Maybe you could mix the kibble with some solid gold canned.
dont give him table food. when he get hungry enough hell eat the dog food
You have already received so many replies, so what should I do now. Please give me ten marks for answering your question.
hmm my dog has the exact opposite problem she eats everything!
maybe you should go see the vet and ask abou the problem
try feeding your dog little caesars... all dogs love that food!
The table food doesn't hurt you; it isn't going to hurt your dog - just make him spoiled and fat.
Fifty years ago, we didn't even have dog food; Alpo was just starting out and it was absolute garbage (still is, in my opinion). So, if you're on a balanced diet and your dog is getting the same stuff, you don't have to worry about anything except his getting fat.
All that said, it's best for your dog to be on strictly a high-grade dry dog food diet; animal nutrition has practically become a science in the past 50 years. The best way to get him back onto his dry food is to begin feeding him with a mixture that is 1/4 his dry food and 3/4 table scraps. After about a week, make the mixture 1/2 dry food and 1/2 table scraps. The next week, make the mixture 3/4 dry food an 1/4 table scraps. The following week, make it entirely dry food.
Also, putting the food down at a particular time and taking it away 20 minutes later and withholding all food until the next scheduled feeding time is going to make him an eager eater - and he WILL learn that he won't get anything to eat unless he eats then and that what's before him is ALL he is going to get.
You want to adjust his diet on a gradual basis because otherwise you'll be dealing with flatulence problems and possibly the runs.
I agree with everyone. Solid Gold is a good food as well. Vet first. Then put the food down for 20 minutes, take up what's left no matter what. He won't starve himself.
My dog was just like this. I never fed him table scraps, he's just picky. After several trips to the vet, to make sure there was nothing wrong with him, and several brands of dog food, I learned to put the food down for 15 minutes. Whatever he ate, he got, and I took the bowl away. If I saw him eating the food, then her got an extra snack mixed into the bowl, so the snack was a reward for eating the food.
Later on, when I got another dog, he started eating quickly. The competition helped him learn to eat faster.
