Home made dog food-any "recipes"?

My dog loves cooked food. She hates dry food, although I buy her a good brand.

Some people believe that dry food is the best solution, because it is formulated to have the nutrients a dog needs.

Some other people believe that fresh high quality ingredients that we'd eat ourselves is the healthiest solution.

I give both opinions some basis. So I want to combine them, by cooking some food and adding some kibble in it, or giving her some cooked meals and some kibble when I don't have time or ingredients to cook for her.

However, I want to make sure she gets the nutrients necessary in her cooked diet. What would you suggest? I cooked her chicken+chicken livers+rice today. With a few peas in it too. One day I had added pasta instead of rice.

How much rice or pasta is allowed so that she doesn't have diabetes problem? How much and what type of veg should I add?

NOTE: 1. I know what foods are poisonous and must not be given, so don't tell me.

2. I also know some people suggest raw food and bones, but I won't do this so don't tell me to do that.Home made dog food-any "recipes"?
Hi. I cook for my Saint Bernard'"s 3-4 times a week, in fact I'm just getting ready to make a big pot of stew for them now, so I will tell you what I put in it and how much.

Today I'm using ground Turkey, I also use Chicken breast, %26amp; thighs (boneless) hamburger, Pork, Beef stew meat, livers, gizzards, whatever I find on sale.

I brown the ground meats, in a big soup pot, add water, and then add veggies.Carrots, green beans, golden sm. potatoes (any will do, just happen to have some, already!)Broccoli, 3 stocks of Celery, and 1 bunch of chopped Mustard Greens, 1 bunch of Parsley (high in vit. C and great for doggy breath) dash of salt, and couple dashes of Garlic powder. Cook until veggies are tender, bring pot to hard boil, add pasta, stir cover, and turn off. Pasta absorbs liquid, and cooks in about 20 minutes.I let this cool completely, and store it in fridge, and then take out what I need for each meal.

My dogs love Vegetables and will eat just about any. They love cooked Beets, and Zucchini. I add Apples and Berries to the stew sometimes as well. I like to mix it up, so they don't get bored!

All have been approved from their vet. and she cooks for her dogs now as well. I just have fun and enjoy watching my dogs eat their food, they are very healthy %26amp; never had a picky eater!! They will eat dry kibble if thats all I have.I mix homemade w/ high quality kibble 50/50. so I add rice, pasta, barley, oarmeal, what have you, just for thickness mostly, if I have none on hand I will leave it out, they get plenty of carbs in the kibble! Have fun %26amp; try out new things, I was so shocked when they got excited over Beets, they devour them! Good Luck, glad to see another good dog parent cooking for their k-9"s!

Tip: When they are eating whole foods, there is no need to supplement with any vitamins. Mixed with high quality kibble, they are getting all the GOOD nutrients they need!Home made dog food-any "recipes"?
You really have to know what yor doing when you want to feed human foods. There are not enough nutrients in it for the dog and anytime you cook something you erase the nutritional value.I feed my dogs along with a high holistic kibble but I also got the recipe from my Holistic Vet.It inclusdes fresh fish, wild caught only and fresh organic veggies that are steamed only. They also get the kibble to add the much needed nutrients so be careful and make sure you do your homework..
I kinda have same problem as we do not have a high end stores around to get a good dog food so get what I can get from the store and mix in my own home made food . I get a bag of mixed frozen veggies, boiled chicken or beef, eggs, rice, oatmeal and i do cut up apples and blueberries for treats for a list of bad food look hereHome made dog food-any "recipes"?
My neighbors little dog likes green beans (plain), chicken, and sweet potatoes.

Dogs cannot eat too much rice or pasta, because it carries yeast as well as bread. That is why dog food was made, because it has certain things in it that dogs need, and it leaves out things that their stomachs cannot digest; like onions and chocolate. I know you said not to tell you what is poisonous and what isn't but what if you DIDN'T know about a certain one? Your dog is obviously spoiled if he or she doesn't like their dog food.
