I'm interested in starting my pup on a raw diet, and have been doing some research on the side. I want to finish his current food off first (not gonna waste a 17lb. bag! :D), but I'm looking for any sites that can provide me with healthy recipes to consider. Also, any forums for the topic would be great!

Remember that a raw diet is NOT just meat or meaty bones but a combination of meat, meaty bones and organs (or better yet a whole carcass). I feed about 2/3 meat/heart and the rest a combination of meaty bones and organs such as liver, kidney etc with the occasional table scraps if there are left over vegetables (low or no carb ones).
The general guide is to feed about 20% per week or between 2-3% per day of the dog's ideal adult body weight. If I feed a large meal one day I reduce the amount of food the next. The best guide for how much to feed is your dog's appearance and its activity level for that day. A day spent at the park takes more energy than a day spent on the lounge.

Raw Meat Diet
Feeding your dog fresh meat and raw meaty bones would have to be the most healthiest and natural way to feed your dog. Why you may ask? Have you ever noticed that look in your dog鈥檚 eyes when you dangle a big juicy bone in front of his nose, the tail is wagging, his mouth is watering and eyes are focused on that bone! Then once given the bone, you don鈥檛 see them for hours as they are hiding somewhere in the backyard gnawing and chewing away with great enthusiasm. Did you know that the dog鈥檚 entire digestive systems are designed for eating raw meaty bones? More than just something to chew on for hours, bones make for a natural tooth brush for their teeth, contain vital nutrients such as proteins, minerals, fat soluble vitamins, marrow for the immune system, iron and natural anti-oxidant/anti 鈥揳geing factors including enzymes. Raw meaty bones not only clean your dogs teeth, they assist with digestion, provide exercise while they are chewing and gnawing away at the bone, provide a healthy immune system, prevent obesity, prevent anal sac congestion and just generally overall prolong their lives. There are many varieties of bones which can be obtained from your local butcher. Raw chicken wings and necks are deal for any dog be it large or small and dogs are able to crunch away happily on these bones without any problems. Chicken wings and necks are also excellent for young puppies as they are full of protein and calcium and essential fatty acid content which ensure that those puppies grow up into strong healthy dogs.
It is of the utmost importance however to never; ever feed your dog cooked bones of any description. Cooked bones are potentially fatal to dogs not only do they splinter and get caught in the mouth they also are capable of piercing the intestines or setting like concrete in the large bowel if fed enough of them.
