Pet raw food recipes?

What are some raw food recipes for cats and dogs? Both my cat and dog have been on raw foods for over 6 months now, and we've had great success! I'd like to start preparing them at home to cut on costs.Pet raw food recipes?
Tyra Dobe - you have been badly misinformed. Dogs will eat some vegetation in the wild, but only when they run out of meat to find. They also don't eat the stomach contents first. They'll eat organs first. In fact the only time the stomach contents are consumed is when the prey is small like a rabbit. Otherwise they shake out the stomach and don't eat the contents. Any wolf study will show this including Mech who is probably the most well known within that world. Veggies and fruits are not a regular part of the diet and only eaten when nothing else is available. Look at the dentition, internal anatomy, and jaw they all say carnivore which is what a dog is. Veggies, grains, and fruits are not needed to have a balanced raw diet.

Before you do anything you need to make sure you understand what a dog/cat needs to provide it with the correct nutrition. Your animals will need protein/muscle meat, organs and bones to stay healthy, I feed my animals fish too and don't do veggies. This a.m. one dog got canned jack mackerel, green tripe, liver and kidney (I always add a squirt of salmon oil), the cat got mackerel/tripe/liver/kidney and the other dog got duck necks/tripe/liver/kidney. In the p.m. both dogs got a pork neck bone.Pet raw food recipes?
Well you don't really need a recipe. For cat's a raw hormone-free chicken wing, chopped up and fed with a bit of boneless chicken, with a bit of green powder(find it at health food stores) sprinkled on. A bit of chopped heart once a week is also a good supplement.

For dogs, just mainly raw meaty bones(bones should be edible). Pureed veggies, yogurt, etc etc.

You want to shoot for an 80/10/10 ratio. 80% meat, 10% bone, and 10% organ, half of that being liver. You feed 2-3% of the dogs ideal weight daily. I'm not experienced with raw feeding cats, so I'm not positive if the amounts are the same.

I don't have a recipe, I stock up on what's on sale, make sure the dogs get plenty of variety, and go by the ratio above. They're both thriving.

Things on the menu include;

Chicken

Game hens

Gizzards

Liver

Kidneys

Beef (avoid weight bearing bones)

Pork (again avoid weight bearing bones)

Lamb

Venison

Rabbit

Join a few groups, get a few books, and you'll eventually find yourself looking for a larger freezer for all those deals you just don't want to pass on.

Books Raw Meaty Bones and Works Wonders by Tom Lonsdale.
Dogs do eat grasses and vegetables in the wild!

(I know they haven't been in the wild for a long time but

that is what their metabolism is still based on!)

Imagine an animal making a kill in the wild, they feed

mostly on herbavour animals and the first thing they go for is the guts of the animal therefore eating all the grasses, grains, root vegetables and green matter that animal had consumed.

It is a confusing world but if you think about what the dog would eat in nature it makes more sense.

30% Meat (Beef / Chicken / Turkey / Lamb are all great)

30% Bones (Chicken Frames / Chicken Necks -

avoid wings as they are very fatty)

20% Offal (Liver / Heart / Kidney / Tongue / Brain)

20% Vegetable Matter. (as listed)

Also a fresh sardine every other day to give some good oils to the diet.

I feed my dogs (both show dogs) raw mince (All Human grade meat not Pet meat) with a carrot, a zucchini and an apple each night.

My dogs also love bananas and oranges, but they have always eaten fruit and veg since they were very little, so it may take your dog a little time to get used to the fruit %26amp; veg.

Any veg is good mashed pumpkin is also a very good veg to add to the dinner as well as

Spinach - put through a food processor

celery (leaves and all) - put through a food processor

cooked cauliflower - put through a food processor

parsley %26amp; alfalfa is great too - put through a food processor

If you need more info check out the www.barfworld.com website and they can help with fresh natural alternatives.

Avoid Onions - Grapes - Capsicum

Also make sure you give them

Bones Bones %26amp; More Bones!

I use chicken wings %26amp; necks/ chicken frames/ lamb briskit /beef chuck bone -lots of fun angles that clean their teeth well!

Both of my dogs teeth aged 7yrs and 2yrs are lovely and white and they do not have bad breath either.. A great side effect of feeding a dog well..

My dogs are both fed on a strict BARF (Bones And Raw Food) diet and have never and will never eat processed dog food of any sort wet or dry.

I have also gotten my mum to feed her dog and cats this diet the cats eat mainly the fresh mince with mashed pumpkin and some pureed veges (they are hard to get to eat the veg but have learned over time)

I have listed more of the way I feed my dogs in a yahoo question I asked. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>

Good Luck it is worth doing!
