Sprouted seeds and beans (not for sprouting but ARE sprouted)
Cacao
Spiriluna
Wheatgrass
And basically pretty much anything for a raw food diet.
But I'm especially interested in SPROUTED products since it seems like it would be a lot of work to do it yourself and a lot of recipes ask for it.
ThanksAre there any health shops in Melbourne Australia where you can buy:?
Try the Melbourne walmart. They have everything.

Campers: What type of camp meals do you have when tent camping for about a week?
We鈥檙e a family of 3 %26amp; we鈥檙e going on a longer trip this time, %26amp; restaurants are far %26amp; few between. How do you manage meals %26amp; what type of food do you bring? Do you precook foods at home, bring them raw %26amp; cook them at camp, or frequent local grocery stores? Do you tend to eat a lot of canned food? Peanut butter sandwiches? Just looking for easy ideas %26amp; non-complicated recipes as space is at a premium w/ all the junk we have!!!Campers: What type of camp meals do you have when tent camping for about a week?
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches work fine for lunch, but if you're gone for a week, don't make them part of the dinner routine.
I would recommend that you pre-measure and prep before the trip as much as possible. Segregate stuff into zip-lock baggies and then just dump and mix once you are at the camp site. It makes life so much easier when you are trying to prepare the meal if you don't have to spend time cutting vegetables, measuring flour, spices, etc. Some recipes that work well include stews and cobblers. Don't be afraid to have a night roasting hot dogs. Do some searches for "Boy Scout Meals" to get some ideas.
Bring powdered drink mix like Tang, Lemonade, or Kool-Aid (leave the sugar free and low-calorie stuff like Crystal Lite at home as you and the kids will need the extra calories) to have with breakfast and lunch. Hot Cocoa works well for dinner.Campers: What type of camp meals do you have when tent camping for about a week?
Pork and Beans, s'mores, eggs, bacon, stuff like that. Sometimes we bring a cooler with meat and some bread. Then we make sandwhiches. Peanut butter sandwiches are good too! Canned stuff usually works...
It usually goes something like this for me. First is the raw meat %26amp; fresh vegetables stored in a cooler cooked over fire. This will last a few days. Precooked Hot dogs/sausage/bacon will last longer in the cooler than raw meat. Then it's into either Mountain House meals or canned goods. The newer coolers like the Colman Marine Cooler are better at keeping food colder longer than Walmart special coolers. Peanut butter is always a great go to food with a loaf of bread.Campers: What type of camp meals do you have when tent camping for about a week?
Go to recipegoldmine.com and click on camping/hiking on the left. They have great recipes.
All the meets I take are raw and frozen solid when I put it in the food cooler. As long as you keep ice on it your meet will be fine. Some things I like to take are Hot dogs, Hamburgers, Skinless Boneless chicken breasts, Sausage, bacon, eggs, Marshmallows, cereal, Granola bars, Pancake mix, potatoes, corn on the cob, stuff for mountain pie makers, Lunch meats and cheese, bread, and Ravioli's.
They make beef in a special package you can find at stores like Bass pro shops that does not need to be stored cold. You can use dehydrated food as well. Mountain house food is expensive but has a great variety, and it only requires you to make some water hot and read directions. The advantage of the dehydrated food is you only need to provide water, which is part of the planning process anyway for longer camping. If you must use canned food, then eat that meal first and crush the can flat. that will reduce the weight in the pack quickly, and reduce the amount of space it will take up as trash.
The Boy Scout troop I was an adult leader with spent a week in the Porcupine Mountains and carried with us enough food for all 10 people. the water we pulled from local streams using katydyne water filters. The packs weighed in at about 60 pounds apiece on day one and decreased each day as we went through our food stocks.Campers: What type of camp meals do you have when tent camping for about a week?
It depends on what kind of cookware you have as well as the type of cooler. If you have one of the newer coolers that can keep ice for extended periods of time, bringing along meat will not be a problem. Mixing everything together before hand is a great idea, else you might be doing it free handed (i've made some pretty good meals free handed, but with kids i wouldn't take the risk). Hot dogs are a classic. shove them on a stick, roast them over the fire, slap it on a bun with ketchup and mustard and you have a meal. Peanut butter and jelly are always good for these camping trips for a quick lunch or maybe a snack.

Don't be afraid be bring canned foods because they won't spoil.
If you have a dutch oven you can make just about anything!
You can cook anything you want. I usually try to eat slightly better than I do at home. Makes camping special. Hot dogs and smores are staples but not necessary. I take pork chops and put them in a zip lock bag and add a cup of italian dressing and there you have marinated pork chops and they tast great! You can prebake potatoes also. and warm them on the grill or in the fire. If you are car camping the sky is the limit. If you are backpacking in you are going to want to go light. That is your only limiting factor. Don't go real cheap and easy because it lowers the experience. I like light lunches (salads, sandwiches), exciting dinners (steak, pork chops, beer can chicken) . All of this stuff is real easy and tastes great. Again this is car camping stuff. Have fun!
I try and prepare all that I can at home before we leave. Like washing veggies and even tin foiling potatoes. I also freeze all meats before leaving. I freeze 2 liter bottles with water and place them in my cooler. They last longer than anything else I have tried. We eat some canned foods and PB%26amp;J but I usually stick to the same foods each time. I recommend checking out: www.outdoorbug.com/all-about-camping
It is a site that has checklist as well as other great camping tips. Camping is the best!! Have fun!!

Commercial dog food alternative?
I am just about to give up on store bought dog foods. But the alternative is very overwhelming to me. My husband is a soldier and we move around a lot and I cant find the same good bought food everywhere we go. And I now live in very small towns without many dog food choices. After the research I have done, I want to get my 6lb yorkie off of the store bought food. I dont know what to feed him though. Even now, we give him cooked ground beef, turkey, and even a few fruits and veggies (only the ones safe for my pup of course) in addition to his dog food - which is Nutro Ultra by the way. I really want to hear from pet owners that are feeding their dog a "raw diet" (I have no idea if that's even the right term for fresh food). Even if I was to start out feeding my pup fresh foods in addition to his dog food, how would I know he is getting the right nutrition?
Please answer if you are feeding your dog fresh food and have some recipes that you are already feeding your dog.
Thanks!!Commercial dog food alternative?
I know you said not to cite any websites, but have you looked at any bookstores? Even looked online for books? I have been feeding my GSDs a raw diet for about three years now. It seemed like I couldnt find much online either. But I have about a dozen books and recipe books that I used. It was a little bit overwhelming when I started the new diet, but once you get the hang of it, it's really not that bad or complicated. I was also concerned about the nutrition content and how my dogs would get everything they needed, but one of the books (I will go write all of the names down and email you them in a minute) had basically step by step instructions and what suppliments to give them and even at what times of the day.
The thing I really like about the raw diet is that you KNOW 100% that everything you are feeding your babies is for human consumption and you dont have to worry about recalls and the crap that dog food companies use as fillers. I always laugh now when I read that a dog food is made from food that is for human consumption... bc there is NO way I would be eating it!!
I think you will enjoy the new diet for your dog.... just about as much as you baby will!!Commercial dog food alternative?
Check out rawfed.com . A raw diet of of meaty bones and organs is the best thing you can give your dog and it's available anywhere where there's a supermarket or butcher.

Sorry, just saw your added details. I still recommend that site. It's the site that I used to learn all about raw feeding and I can't recommend it highly enough.
At time we just feed our dogs a whole carcass, depending on their size.
A whole cornish game hen, for instance, inclusive of all innards like liver, heart, kidney, etc and bones is a complete meal in itself. It's small enough so our miniature pinscher can work on it the whole day through. Sometimes we remove the liver because it's not necessary or even good for a dog to receive so much iron, but other than that, it's pretty simple.
A dog cannot thrive only on "meat" - it really does need the raw bones for calcium, the innards for vitamins and minerals, the offal for extra little bits of digested vegetable matter, and of course, meat, for protein.
From my experience, I would never feed my dogs kibble alongside raw food. The rates of digestion are different. If we feed kibble (if ever), we make sure that the kibble in itself is 1 meal, and the raw food is another. When we do feed kibble (very rarely - nowadays if we don't have time we feed them commercial raw frozen from Nature's Variety), we make sure to leave a 5 hour gap between processed kibble and the raw food. Otherwise, they might get digestion issues.Commercial dog food alternative?
If you want to stick with dog food, I'll give you the same advice I give everyone, try Orijen!! It's a little more expensive but it is worth it. It has 70% meat products, 30% veggies, and no grain. It's the way they are SUPPOSE to eat, without fillers. I HIGHLY reccommend this brand. It received 6 stars out of the possible 6 stars when rated on this website. You can order it online from this website (http://www.k9cuisine.com/showproduct.asp鈥?/a> let me know if that link doesn't work.
I've been feeding my dogs fresh, home-made food (including raw meat) for something like 7 - 8 months now and they're thriving on it. I got started by reading a book in my vet's office called "Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats".
It's got a lot of recipes as well as all the additives your dog needs and what each one does.
Feeding fresh is great for the dogs but I learned from this book and my vets that you can't just throw things together. They need a balanced diet and if you're cooking for them, your responsible for making sure they get it. If you want to feed your yorkie fresh, this book is a great investment. (And you really need it as a continuing reference.)Commercial dog food alternative?
You are on the right track in wanting to feed your dog raw. This is by far the healthiest way to feed. Dogs are carnivores and need raw meat and bones. And the great news for you is that it doesn't matter where you live. Raw meat, such as chicken, turkey, beef, fish, rabbit, etc is available anywhere at any grocery store or butcher shop.
At Bella Rosa Cane Corsos, we teach people how to feed raw and cook for their dogs. You will find a variety of articles on our website, beginning with a very interesting article entitled: "What's In That Bag?" which talks about kibble vs. raw feeding. I think you'll find it very illuminating.

Traveling with a raw fed dog is easy too - just throw some mackerel, chicken legs or beef ribs into a zip lock bag, and toss it into your cooler. Then feed your dog at the rest area when you take your own break. It really couldn't be easier, and the health benefits are wonderful!
Hope this helps!

Creative Recipes??
I have a slight allergy to uncooked fruits and vegitables. They make my throat and ears itchs, my tongue swell and sometimes I present with a rash. I have asked my doctor what it is but he says he would have to run extensive tests, and I dont find it worth it. Instead I stay away from those foods that make me sick. Anyhow. I am starting a diet with my husband, or rather getting back on the diet, but we are getting bored of eating the same thing all the time. I am looking for creative recipes to spice up our daily menu. Our diet is currently consisting of fruits and veggies, and white meats. We are cutting bad carbs (like white taters and breads) down to a minimum, but we are far from atkins. Remember I CAN eat cooked fruits and veggies. But not so many raw ones. I am alright with grapes and bananas, but not apples and pears when raw. It seems complicated. But I would really like to see what you guys come up with! Other than my food allergies, we are far from picky eaters! Thanks alot!Creative Recipes??
Roast asparagus drizzled in olive oil, salt and pepper in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. When it comes out, squeeze some lemon juice on top. Yum!!! (also you can sprinkle some parm cheese)
Another is to take chicken breasts and put in a casserole dish. Top with a jar of spaghetti sauce and mozzerella cheese. Serve over Barilla Plus pasta (it is made with whole grains, and has a TON of nutrition, better than regular pasta). Serve with a salad, or steamed broccoli tossed with lemon juice and butter spray.Creative Recipes??
This is a great time to grill veggies, just dress them with olive oil, garlic ppowder and salt %26amp; pepper. I've used squash, zucchini, eggplant, portabello mushroosm and peppers.Creative Recipes??
Please remember that a potatoe has as many vitamins as an apple. It is the dressings that add calories and harm. A baked potato with broccoli and cheeze or mixed veggies is a great meal loaded with vitamins and minerals. Bread is also a necceasary component. It is not called the staff of life for nothing. Grain (especially whole grain) is essential for digestion. Try whole grain breads-minus the fats like butter.
Bagels are low in fat but nutritious and can be loaded with pureed fruit that has been prepared with little or no sugar and cheeses or even mini pizza type meals. Low fat meats can be made into chili, ground turkey is great for this and seasoned properly few people can tell the differnce. You can check out a diabetic cook book for low fat low sugar ideas for good food without the guilt. I hope this helps Also as for the raw fruits and veggie trouble try steaming them for a short time to help with the allergic reaction. A little seasoning during the process will add some zing to the flavor and you can combine two or three for combosmymathlab login

Keep portion size in mind. Sorry you want real recipes, but the simplest are often the healthiest.
Fresh fruit and veggies first and foremost!
Homemade trail mix with a few nuts, dried cranberries, just a few chocolate chips or m%26amp;ms or nips,
Light cheese and crackers and an apple.
Small individual sized can of tuna and a packet of light mayo (like you get at a fast food place) and some crackers.
Light cup of yogurt.
Hard boiled egg.
Popcorn, not the fat laden version.
Canadian bacon on an english muffin slice with an over easy egg or poached egg. Skip the hollandaise to save calories.
Slider burger (like a 1/4 of a regular hamburger).
Grilled egg and 2% cheese on a one slice of bread. You can also use canadian bacon, it only has 20 calories.
Grilled chicken on a tortilla with veggies, use more veggies than chicken.
Healthy smoothie - frozen banana, strawberries and some ice cubes with a little milk.

My 10 month old and food allergies!
Is very allergic to milk and milk/dairy products. He has severe eczema and can't have anything with milk products or he breaks out in a horrible, severe rash that he can't stop scratching at. He was put on Alimentum and it hasn't done any good..my aunt, who is also lactose intolerant, was reading the ingredients and said that there is milk based products in the Alimentum. So I took him off of formula completely (He will be 11 months this month-Aug.) and put him on Rice milk and his skin has already started clearing up!! My question is--Does anyone have a recipe for homemade Rice milk that is more catered to babies or will any Rice milk recipe do? I have found a few good recipes but wasn't sure if babies needed added ingredients. He is also eating homemade food..meaning I buy raw fruits and veggies and cook them etc. because the baby food also has added stuff that he is allergic to. Thanks so much for all of your help!My 10 month old and food allergies!
This can indeed relate to your little ones allergies.
The information below is often overlooked or missed by both patients and physicians.
This is the best Allergy info.
Being a nurse with over 25 years experience, I have seen a lot of patients with similar illnesses and disorders.
Many Allergy and Asthma problems are caused from common everyday chemicals and fragranced products as well as VOC's in homes, schools and workplace.
This is a growing problem for many people and most are not even aware that it exists as more and more chemicals are being introduced and used on a daily basis.
Many people believe that because a product smells good or cleans well and it is on a store shelf that it is tested, approved and safe for use.
Think again !
We are now seeing more and more children and adults with skin disorders, nausea, Allergies, Headaches, Sinusitis, Migraines, Asthma, Chronic Hives, Eczema, sinus / respiratory illnesses and Hormone related disorders.
I can not emphasize how important it is to educate yourself about the harm you may be doing to your health by using chemicals and fragranced products.
Most doctors will not inform you about this because patients as a whole like to walk out of a doctors office with a prescription for some magical medicine and they do not want to be told that their expensive new perfume or newly installed carpet or fresh house paint may be the culprit. Also, many patients do not want to change their lifestyle to accommodate their new illness. Infact, I have even witnessed patients who increase or take multiple medications for their allergy or asthma just so that they can continue to wear their perfume or use Bounce or Febreeze. The doctor will give patients medications even though often times these meds do not eliminate the problem or often times cause other health problems because they are an added chemical in the body.
Chemicals and fragranced products are often the root of many disorders and illnesses when it comes to your health. Many of the below mentioned items are common triggers to sinus, asthma, itching, headaches, Migraines and allergy problems amongst other health issues. Get rid of them and your immune and respiratory system will thank you and you will breathe easier.
And, it is not only personal body or cleaning products causing havoc on your health鈥?many people become ill after wearing brand new clothing, dry-cleaned clothes, installing new carpet, painting, buying a new mattress or after home renovations because of the Flame Retardants, Antimony, Benzenes, Formaldehydes, etc. used in these products. So the answer is NO, you are not imagining that 2 weeks after your home, office or classroom got renovated you started to become ill, get dizzy or have headaches. This is happening more and more these days and adults as well as children are becoming sicker and sicker.
Unfortunately, too many doctors compound the problem by prescribing chemical medications to try to alleviate the symptoms of an already chemical overloaded body and they rarely tell the patient to eliminate the chemical offenders. How many times have I seen people in the grocery store with Bounce, Glade Plug-Ins and Febreeze in their shopping cart along with a bottle of Benadryl , Migraine Excedrin and a box of Allergy Tablets ? Why don't they make the connection?
Keep in mind that your skin is the largest organ of your body and what you put on your skin gets absorbed into your body. Then ... well... then it has to be filtered by your organs which are already working real hard.
BIG NO-NO's ---- I would SERIOUSLY recommend removing all of the below from your living / working area.
No Bounce or dryer sheets - these are VERY toxic
No Febreeze - your pets will even thank you for this
No Glade Plug-ins - VERY toxic
No drinking of Unfiltered tap water
No Scented candles
No Scented Dish Detergents
No Fragranced Products on Body, Hair or Clothing
No Smoke
No Newspapers and Magazines - The ink is a huge irritant.
No Dander
No Sprays
No Sharpies (marker pens)
New Cartpeting, mattresses, paint, contain toxins that can trigger severe respiratory disorders as well as headaches and Asthma flare-ups.
And remember, it is NOT the smell it is the Chemicals that make up the smell. So, even if something is "Fragrance Free" these products often mask the smell with another chemical ! There are plenty of safe healthy products out there that work well and do not have added chemical fragrances.
More and more workplaces %26amp; schools are implementing Fragrance Free policies and creating "Fragrance Free Zones"鈥?why do you think this is? Make the connection, your lungs , immune system and your general health will thank you.My 10 month old and food allergies!
I don't have an answer for you, but just wanted to sympathize. My son also has severe food allergies and eczema. Be on the look out for asthma too because all of these things seem to go hand in hand. On the happy side, my son is almost 12 and is learning to cope with all of his allergies. Some have gone away, others have gotten worse, but he is a regular little guy. Sounds to me like you are doing all the right things. There are some really good food allergy websites and organizations you may want to look into.My 10 month old and food allergies!

I dont know if you will understand but I have to tell you this,
The only animal who drink milk from others animals are us.
Milk is made by nature on cows specially to feed an animal, her baby cow, NOT humans, by tradition we are tought to do this and that, unfortunately most of the traditions are wrong, thats is why USA is one of the sickest nations on the world .
Humans dont have the appropiate enzymes to digest cow milk, imagine giving a new born baby cow milk, his organism is not ready for this kind of food, milkl create mucous causing catharral conditiions on the respiratory systemf, sometimes diarrhea leaving his colon without friendly bacteria, then infections arise on the baby, skin problems, ear infections, fevers and so on.

How do I make avocado baby food?
I bought an avocado but have never prepared one before. It was soft to the touch (all around) but not too soft. I peeled it and took the pit out. I used the Baby Bullet to make the baby food. The recipe was vague and didn't say much. I made it raw and did not cook it. When I was cutting it up to put into the blender it felt like the consistency of butter.
I tasted it and it really didn't taste good, it literally tasted like I made butter. My daughter didn't like it at all either.
Did I make it correctly, or did I do something wrong. How do you make your baby food with avocado?
Thanks in advance. How do I make avocado baby food?
You made it correctly. You don't need to do anything to it... just blend it. It is possible that it wasn't ripe enough. It mixes easier when it is mushier.
Maybe your daughter doesn't like it? But you made it correctly. How do I make avocado baby food?
I've never heard of avocado baby food but it's basically guacamole without all the added stuff like tomatoes and onions. If it were me, I would have added some salt and pepper and a little garlic and a splash of lemon juice. But I don't know how old your baby is and how she'd deal with garlic so you might want to test it.How do I make avocado baby food?
Avocado is so soft naturally I used to just give it to my son in slices. He really enjoyed it and it was good practice for table foods. I could see how blending it would make it taste odd, it really needs some kind of texture. You might try just mashing it with a fork next time. Also avocado is one of those "you like or you don't" foods, so she may just not like it...How do I make avocado baby food?
I mashed a good soft one with a fork till smooth and my baby didn't like it. So I "gave" it to myself and put salt, garlic powder, pepper and lime juice in it. I let her taste it and she loved it.
In general, babies don't have complex taste pallets like we do, so things that taste bland to us are fine for babies. If she didn't like it, it's probably because it was a new food for her, not for any other more complicated reason. It can take 20-30 tries before a baby will learn to like a new food, so keep offering it. If you buy a very soft, ripe avocado, you can simply mash it with a fork and feed it to the baby, or cut it into very small pieces and let her gum it herself.

Please help me find the best dry cat food?
my cat hates the raw diet and wet food so please don't lecture me on that, i have tried several flavors and brands and as a topper and he either cries for hours or eats around it. he has a water fountain at all times. and i always acclimate him to food. i think the junk foods like friskies and meow mix is better for him actually, shiny coat and solid stools. whenever i give him "premium" or "organic foods" like natures recipe, solid gold, or nutro it seems to be too rich for him, he gets diarrehrea and his coat is full of dandruff. now the junk food is what he enjoys (friskies, meow mix) and it is affordable. but its junk and i would wnat him on something healthier, without the dandruff and messy stools, and he refuses to eat science diet, which is ok because it is just overpriced junk food. what do you recommend? and please no raw or wet diets i have tried them he hates it and im not going to let him starve so i can say "o ya i feed raw only"Please help me find the best dry cat food?
Grain-free dry foods include: Wellness CORE, EVO, and Blue Buffalo Wilderness.
Corn-free, but grain-containing foods include: Innova, Wellness, Felidae, California Natural, Blue Buffalo Spa Select.
My cat had a bit of loose stool on the Innova. I'm currently transitioning them to Blue Buffalo Spa Select for sensitive skin.
California Natural is made by the same company as Innova and EVO, but it has very few ingredients to help cats with allergies.
You might need to give your cat's stools some time to normalize on new food. Also be sure you don't switch the food too much - it can actually increase digestive problems initially. Please help me find the best dry cat food?
Feed him EVO, it's the next best thing. I use it, saved us a lot of vet bills. It's not extremely expensive, I get pays $100 a week and I can afford it.Please help me find the best dry cat food?
I'm using Orijen dry food. Its slightly more expensive than the "junk food" but well worth it and as its so rich (hopefully not too rich for your little one though) it lasts forever. "70 percent meat, 30 percent fruit and vegetables and zero grain (70/30/0)". Orijen pet food is produced by a Canadian family business...I can see that you are based in the States I buy it on line from Zooplus (UK site) but if you click on the Orijen link below you will find info about how to find it in USA as well.
My little one loves it (and she certainly has got shiny coat, solid stools and lots of energy) and also its great to support a regional business. Only possible downside with it, that I can think of, is that it may be hard to keep fresh so make sure you buy some plastic food bags to keep and open cat food bag fresh at all times.
p.s you can buy a trial bag for only a couple of $ and try it out but of course as pointed out above be a bit careful when switching food d.s

Breadless options? Gluten free and CRAVING a sandwich!?
So without giving you the whole diagnosis, my doctors say I shouldn't eat grains, rice, or anything with gluten in it! It hasn't been easy but I want to follow their advice. However, my biggest problem is that I still get cravings for bready things-- sandwiches, pizza, pasta, etc.
So, my question is: Does anyone know so alternate recipes (perhaps raw foods?) that I can use in place of bread in these meals? E.g. What can I put tomato sauce, cheese, and mushrooms on (other than pizza dough) so I can have my pizza fix without my stomach getting upset.
Thanks!Breadless options? Gluten free and CRAVING a sandwich!?
hi, there! good for you wanting to follow your doctors' advice. Why not try using corn tortillas? I think Misson brand states that they are gluten free. If you are enterprising, you can even make your own corn tortillas by using Maza Harina. Some other "vehicles" for you to think about...crispy lettuce leaves make great sandwich wraps and the one I liked a lot was cheese! Yes, cheese! Put your sandwich meat between two slices of cheese, or better still, take a slice of Provolone cheese, put it on a plate and microwave it. Be sure to watch it. It will melt first and then it will cook into a nicely hardened disk. Then you can make yourself a mini pizza, or use it as "chips" for dipping into yummy dips. If you don't like Provolone cheese, just grate your favorite cheese onto the plate and do the same. I don't remember how long to microwave the cheese-start with 30 seconds, but watch it so it doesn't burn.
well, hope this helps you some. can't imagine life without sandwiches or pizza! Best wishesBreadless options? Gluten free and CRAVING a sandwich!?

There are plenty of gluten free breads out there, as well as other products. My favorite is Glutino. http://www.glutino.com/. Just go to your local health food store and check out what they have. If not, there are places you can order online as well. In addition, if you have celiac or are gluten free permanently, then I would recommend getting a breadmaker so you can make your own gluten free breads. Most breadmakers have gluten free settings to handle the consistency of that type of bread.
Edit: Did your doctors say you can't eat gluten? Or did they say to avoid gluten AND rice, etc. There are many products such as "glutinous rice." However, that form of gluten is not related to wheat gluten and does not cause a reaction to people with gluten intolerance. As for a completely flourless alternative, I would go with grilled portabello mushrooms as the base of a pizza. Just put sauce, cheese and meats on top and you already have your mushrooms included.international trucks

Problems with adapting to a 'raw' diet?
Hello,
I have recently started trying to eat a mostly raw diet, and while I have been successful at eliminating most cooked foods from my menu, I have run into some problems. Most significantly, I have been experiencing mild to severe nausea following some 100% raw (or close to) days, and even some meals. For example, last week I made a raw 'sunflower pate' and ate it between two romaine leaves- it tasted great and I felt alright for about an hour after eating, but then I got a terrible headache and very nauseated. Around 4pm, I threw up, and was dry-heaving the rest of that day. The next day I still felt awful, and had trouble keeping anything down. The next day I felt fine... but still everything I ate seemed to not sit well with me.
I have a few guesses as to what went wrong with the sunflower dish, but nothing too conclusive. The seeds had to be soaked before they were used in the recipe; is it possible that they were rancid, or moldy? Was it a problem with food-combining? (recipe also included a lot of garlic/onion and pungent items, maybe it was just too much for my digestive system)? Any ideas or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Problems with adapting to a 'raw' diet?
It could have been the romaine. If you don't buy organic, be sure to wash them thoroughly.
Raw diets do not cause your symptoms- perhaps you have a bug.
But why would someone who shoots and fishes want to be a raw vegan?

1lb lean Hamburger, boiled and drained of grease.
Then add a few cups of water and a cup of minute rice (add more rice or water as needed later on for desired thickness or soupiness).
Add a little beef bulllion for taste. Crack one or two eggs, mix it up really good and then mix that up with the hamburger/rice mix during cooking. Add some frozen chopped carrots, frozen corn and frozen lima beans (or even fresh diced potatoes) and keep boiling mixture till everything is cooked thouroughly. Turn off the heat and throw in a few ice cubes and stir really well to complete cool down process faster. Put into seperate bowls for each dog and let cool before serve. Make a bowl for yourself and salt/pepper to your liking. Then you all enjoy. Every dog I've ever made this for has loved it. I have to say that it looks terrible but it tastes really great and it really fills the dogs bellies up fast. It also has a lot of nutrients, some fat and a lot of protein. Not an everyday treat because of the fat content, more like a once a month treat. Any leftovers, put into the fridge and microwave the next day for either you or the dogs.

Anybody else eat RAW?
I have decided to throw myself into eating completely RAW foods, i just wanted to know if anybody else has done the same... things to look out for and side effects, links to good recipe sites etc. Thank you.Anybody else eat RAW?
I dont think any extreme diet is a good thing. If you like the idea, just eat more raw food, but I think you will soon give up
by getting sick and tired of it. I like the idea of eating lots of
fresh fruit, but...........Anybody else eat RAW?
I haven't but I have noticed that those who eat only raw become sick when they start eating cooked foods, and those who eat cooked foods tend to get sick when they eat only raw. As such, to go 100% raw isn't the best sounding of ideas, rather it would be better to have both raw and cooked (at least some items) so that you can eat both without becoming sick eating either.Anybody else eat RAW?
Here's one yy favorite RAW recipes. it's from one of my cookbooks.
Recipe Number 23
Tartare Steak
Steak Tartare or Tartare Steak for those who are unacquainted with it, is not cooked. Therefore, the ground beef should be very fresh, of the highest quality and with a very low (no) fat content. There are many ways to prepare this dish with perhaps an infinite combination of ingredients. This recipe is the way I like it.
Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef from T-bone or Del Monico steak with all fat removed.
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon coarsely ground Peppercorn M茅lange (McCormick鈩? A blend of black, white, green, and pink, whole peppercorns).
陆 cup scallions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon freshly squeezed Key lime juice
1 tablespoon Pickapeppa Sauce鈩?
Preparation:
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and carefully mix. Form into two to four patties.
Serving Suggestions:
Put patties between two thick slices of a good hard bread. Serve with a cold dark beer or stout.Anybody else eat RAW?

Puppy food?
I have a14 week old shiba inu puppy, duke. I currently feed him Artemis: Small Breed Puppy Formula. I know this is really good food however i want to give him a healthier diet. How would i go about doing this, raw diet? what is raw diet exactly? Also could i do like cooked chicken, or steak pieces along with mashed fruits and veggie?
Links to websites or recipes for some good homemade food to go along with his dry food would be greatly appreciated.Puppy food?
Wow...glad someone finally asked this.
I feed nothing but Nutro. I will mix in some raw.cooked veggies or sometimes both and raw de-boned chicken...you can also do cooked chicken. He should be on a medium breed puppy. Shibas are not small breeds. Or a puppy formula that is formulated for all sizes. I have been feeding Nutro for over 25 years. Last year I started mixing in the raw meat and veggies and he absolutly loves it.
Alot of people say the raw diet is bad.....it's not. Dogs lick floors, tires, shoes, counters, their butts...etc....so there is next to no chance of them getting sick from it. Try that. I buy Chicken legs or thighs....de-bone them myself or you can buy them de-boned.....I will feed on de-boned leg a night mixed in with veggies and kibble. I own shepherds so maybe you should feed your half of that. Rule of thumb....you want the veggies and raw meat to make up half of the nightly meal...so if he is getting 1 cup at night...do 1/2 cup of kibble and 1/2 cup of chicken and veggies. You could also do nothing but a raw diet at night to. I only do kibble mixed in to kinda remind them it is there. If I were to feed a raw diet all the time my dogs would lift their noses to kibble...thats why i mix the two. Also before you give it to him....dampen the food with water to make it easier for him to chew.
Veggies good for dogs......
- apples (peeled and no cores)
- carrots
- Peas
- Pears (peeled and no cores)
- Cantelope
- Honey Dew
NOT good for them
- grapes/raisins
- seeds from apples, pears...etc
- Mushrooms
- Onions
- any kind of nut
You can feed liver, kidneys, heart.....anythingPuppy food?
well you need to gradually start to give it solid food.you can let the food sit in the formula for 5 min.that works.yes i have heard of people feeding dogs cooked stake and chicken but I've never heard
of the fruits and veggies.Puppy food?

Well, I have 2 things I do with pumpkin, but both require some cooking. One is pumpkin cookies with cream cheese icing....they are awesome. My favorite kind of cookie. The other is pumpkin oatmeal for my children's breakfast. They love it and are always asking me to make it. The recipe for the cookies is as follows:
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
Heat oven to 375. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Set aside. In large mixing bowl combine sugar, pumpkin, butter, egg and vanilla. Beat at medium speed until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Beat at low speed until soft dough forms.
Drop dough by heaping teaspoons 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until set. Cool completely then ice with cream cheese icing.
Icing
2cups powdered sugar
1pkg. Cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon butter or margarine softened
Combine ingredients in small bowl and beat at low speed until smooth. If too thick add 1 to 2 tablespoons Milk.
Oatmeal
Make oatmeal as directed on container, only use milk instead of water. I cook mine until it is somewhat thickened. Then add Pumpkin, Cinnamon, and Brown Sugar (Or Real Maple Syrup...this is what I use) to taste.
if you are making raw pumpkin pie then you might as well buy yours at Kroger deli...theirs are frozen and taste raw when they thaw out..you would like it..

Thinking about a major dietary change? Raw/organic diet (not necessarily vegetarian).?
Hi, my sister and I are considering going on an organic, mostly raw diet. We are not vegetarian, nor do we really care to be, but as far as meat goes we plan to eat mainly chicken and fish. We love most fruits and veggies, so this probably won't be a huge problem for us.This is not to lose weight, but to be healthier and cleanse our bodies of preservatives. I was just wondering if anyone had some suggestions, and maybe recipe/meal ideas? We are fairly petite, so plans for the day should be no more than about 1500 calories. Also, we can't have any foods from the nightshade family (potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplant, and other kinds of peppers), so keep this in mind when suggesting recipes! Thanks in advance!Thinking about a major dietary change? Raw/organic diet (not necessarily vegetarian).?
I agree mostly with armandica82. So I second that motion. Eating raw fruits and vegtables and going natural is the best thing a person can do. Don't worry about the word organic so much. Water, Juice, Nuts, fruits, wholegrains, Soy Products, Salads with some natural suppletments is the way to go. If you see a recipe you like and it has one of the vegtables you can't eat just sustitue for one you can eat, there is noting wrong with that. Have you heard of tomatios. It is a little green tomatoe like chili. Chilies are good for you too and some are not hot at all. My wife is alergic to tomatoes but she can eat tomatillos. I will advise you to do more research on your own and make the changes as you go. You can start right now. If you wait tell later it will be harder and youll only get older and as you get older the more disease we get. Most diseases are diet related. And the three main cuprits are Meat, dairy, and processed foods. Meat being the worse and processed foods being last(dependent on ingredients and nutritional value). Animal diets kill, plant based diets heal and cleanse. There is no kneed for all these diseases if we simply cut way back on these three culprits or cut them out completely. Chicken and fish are just as bad especially if you buy at the regular supermarket. Chicken has only 3 grams less fat and cholesteral than beef and the omega 3 in fish your getting it second hand with all the other fats and bad stuff, because the fish eat plants wich have the omega 3 in them. Omega 3 is more naturally accuring in flaxseed than in fish. You can still get protein/calcium from vegtables, fruits, and nuts, you don't need them from meat and dairy. Meat and dairy are not raw, it has to be cooked at high temps because of the bacteria, hormones, and diseases. Animals are eating animals and baby male chicks are being thrown away. Chickens are being modified. Animals are being tortured and fed road kill, animal waste , and garbage. The main industry is making the animals grow faster, grow more fat and cholesterol, produce more eggs, more milk, more babies. The farm animals now are not the same as they used to be save a few small farms. Processed food has alot of garbage like corn syrup and processed bleached flour, partially hydrogenated oils ect oganic or not. It may have less chemicals but processed is processed. Natural and raw is better but you still have to do the research. I agree with Farmers market, Whole Foods, Natural Markets, but get to know the places you visit and the poeple and their companies and the products and the ingredients. Study each ingredient and how the company produces it and the technology behind it. Do Google searches on each item and ingredient. There is no quick easy answer and it will take a life time to perfect it but with positive thinking you will get the job done and it will be a fullfilling task. And you will become a vessel to help others in need. The best meat is at Whole foods if you going to eat meat, because they grain feed their animals and they are RANGE FREE, they don't abuse the animals, they have less fat, no chemicals or diseases, no hormones. That surpasses organic its natural. However you still have to cook the meat and the meat, chicken and fish is dead nutrition anyway. The omega 3 is cooked. What good does it do. There are alot of meat substitues that are real good. One good one is Soyrizo, honestly can't tell the difference. Then there is the taco filling, i tried that and i swore it was meat. Rice cheese and soy cheese is not so bad. The chocolate rice cream with chocolate coating was good as the real thing also. The other stuff might take some used to but with a little innovation like marination, mixing it with a little lean fish, chicken or beef, or even turkey is good. The less processed the bread the better also. The higher the fiber the better. With food it is endless. where there is a will there is a way. The FDA says that 30% fat is ok, but research states that with the food pyramid the way it is set up there is no way poeple get less than 30%. More and more doctors are going to a lesser 10% and plant based diet. Many dotors say anything around 170-200 bad cholesterol is considered high normal. Well many alot of doctors are coming out and saying it should be under 150 or even as low as 100 TOTAL CHOLESTEROL. So you do know the truth about cholesterol and obesity, and diabetes? All these diseases are caused by inflamation and toxitity and not by genetics. Diseases are caused by the fat cells in the body and blockage in the colon(bad colon health) and the more fat cells the worse it gets, and the blockage and toxitity and oxidation and immune system gets worse. This is based on the Rave Diet and companies like Herbal life, which in research has reversed heart disease, high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, asthma, impotence, arthritis, depression, etc, and most cancers; YES I SAID CANCER. It is proven that there is a cure for cancer and it is right in your body. It is called the immune system. Think about it. We have millions of cells multiplying every day. Research has it that we produce at least one cancer cell a day and there is nothing we can do to stop it from happening. The only defense and cure is our immune system which attacks these mutated cells if our immune system is strong and has plenty of enzymes. Most people believe that it is normal to have heart disease, diabetes ect. The fact is that it not natural and is totaly preventable and reverseable in the mist of actuall being told to have surgery or die. Meat and dairy and processed foods, attack our immune sytem, clogs our arteries and our digestive tracks and elimintaion systems, makes us fat and causes all these diseases. You may not be fat now and it is good that you watch what you eat but a person can be skinny and really be fat in the inside and eventually you will have to make a disciscion to cut back even more as you get older. Your muscle to fat ratio could be really off and all the mass that an individual can be mostly made up of fat tissue especially females. An example would be two females both wieght 130, however one is in her 30's and the other in her 60's. The older lady has two things working against her, age and motabolism. So unless she is real active and has a great diet she is going to have less lean muscle mass than the younger women. The key is LEAN MUSCLE MASS. The older women would be more prone to disease. But if she had that right diet and the right physicall activity she can improve and prolong her life. Now lets say the younger women started now in her 30's well its more likely if she continues that she may live longer than if she started when she hits 60. I am not trying to convince you to go totally veggie but the more the better. There are alot of natural supplements you can take also. You can make protien;fruit smoothies in the morning mixed with granola or a little non-dairy whipped cream, even the dairy kind is not so bad. Rice cream is very good. You must go to Whole foods and try every thing from the restaruant to the frozen section, to the produce. I want to advise you not to get to hooked up on the idea of organic vs conventional. The real war is bettween Natural vs conventional and Natural vs pharmacutical. Natural would be more salad and less pizza. Natural would be more water and Freshly squeezed or non processed juices instead of milk shakes and soda. Natural would be instead of going to the phamacy go to more natural cures. Raw is Natural. Natural is organic but organic does not mean Natural. However just because it is Natural does not mean it is the best thing for you. Organic is supposed to be Natural but the word Organic has been tossed around like a rag doll and is now used very loosely. Organic is supposed to be chemical free, menure free, abuse free, disease free, not-genitically modified, free from all pesticides, and picked at the right time to ensure the best flavor and nutrition, free roaming, of course envrionment freindly, and hormone free. Natural is unprocessed, and organic at the same time. Here is the catch, if you milk a cow and make butter, ice cream, fresh milk, yogurt, cheese, and live off it; you will have a high fat diet and eventually it will catch up to you even if you use it sparingly. It is called "The Animals Revenge" because every time we eat them or drink thier milk they leave a little bit of themselves behind in us. So during the duration we all are faced with the facts and have to make a happy medium bettween a not so healthy diet and a real great healthy diet. One example of a good natural product would be the naturally flavored waters that have been coming out lately with naturally accuring vitamins, herbs, minerals, and natural sugars like cane juice which is totaly unprocessed. They even have sodas with naturally unprocessed surgars. I don't know if you have heard of super or whole food suppliments. One capsule or a couple of spoon fulls of this poweder mix it with anything and it is like you ate a big salad with the earths greatest super foods and fruits. Another example would be Noni Juice. Juices like blueberry, mangosteen are great. You can make a parfait in the morning. This is what i do and i don't do alot of messuring just grab and go. I get some fresh blue berries and strawberries, slice then up in a big bowl, some crunchy dried fruit like blueberry, strawberry, maybe rasberry, apple (i like the product(JUST BLUEBERRY, JUST STRAWBERRY, ect by whole foods), add some of your favorite nuts like almonds and walnuts, or granola with fruit and nuts or favorite cereal, then add a little honey, a pinch of stevia plus, a couple spoonfulls of soygurt or yorgurt, then top it with some whiped cream, either non-dairy or dairy, you can layer it or mixed it all up and any time you run out of whip cream in the bowl just add some more. it real fun you should try it. The options are limitless. Just a little imagination and your tastebuds. If you are in a rush put every thing in a blender to your likeing maybe even add some healthy icecream or even try rice cream and try almond milk by bluediamond or rice milk(they taste better than soymilk) in your cereal or shake, or blend it all in there with or with out ice. You can create your own recipes. Samething with lunch and dinner. You could put veggies in the blender with an ounce of chicken/ fish or alternative, put some broth, put some cheese or alternative, put some smart balance butter, put a little warm water and blend. It should come out nice and thickn creamy. You perefer chunky lower down the blender. You can steam the vegies a little to but not to much. Stir fry is ok to but don't keep it in there to much. Bakeing should be limited to meat and cake, bread. Barbecuing on the grill is ok and could be lightly brushed with olive oil or avacado oil. Avacados are real good especially in salads. Mushrooms are really good too. There are so many diffent kind of salad leaves, spinach, and other leaves for salad. There is green and purple. All plants have phytonutrients. Phyto comes from the greek meaning plant. so phytonutrients are plantnutrients. If you go to your doctor they can not tell you about nutrition and the effects of phytonutrients. This is why i am not a doctor and rather be a nutritionist or nutricutical compared to a doctor and pharmacutical. Phytonutrients contain vitamins that include antioxidants. We are every day bombarded by pollution, the sun, and the chemicals in water and the food we eat. Sciencetist have stated that we should eat 7-9 servings of fruits and veggies a day. Even vegans have a hard time doing this. It gets tougher still. Now they say color content has something to do with it also. You have to go by the covering of the fruit, root or the leaf. The colors are Green, Blue, purple, red, orange, yellow, white and throw in brown. But there are supposed to be 7 main ones and they say we should get all seven every day. No one does that. why all seven? Because of the day we live in requires more. It requires a team of antioxidents. Each color and fruit has its own properties. Not all antioxidents are equal and are the same and do the same exact thing. But one thing they have in common is to fight free radical damage caused by oxidation wich leads to aging and disease. We can work on the environment but that is not the cause of cancer, it has very little impact. The best way is to eat the most anitoxidants in the widest range possible. We need a team of phytonutrients and antioxiddants. Not just one or two can do all. You can eat limitless amount of plants with limitless positive effects but we have to limit our selves with Meat, dairy, and processed foods and haveing to face consequences down the road. Antioxidents are all natural, organic with very few exceptions and you don't have to stuff your self if you use supplements. Don't worry so much about calories. The main thing would be phytonutrients and nutional value/content. The rave diet does this but is very strict and has some holes in it. Companies like Herbalife have been changing lives all over the world. Sounds like you're doing a psoriasis diet by eliminating the foods from the nightshade family. I'm not sure about the solanin content... That sounds a little witch-doctory.
The only thing I can think of right now is to also cut back on dairy products, including butter. Cook with cold pressed oils.Thinking about a major dietary change? Raw/organic diet (not necessarily vegetarian).?
no tomates peppers eggplant etc?? why is that???? A raw diet can be good becuase in general food in its natural state contains more nutrients .... the more processed a food is the more nutrients are taken out of it. I have a hard time with the "organic" stuff because basically it means it is grown without pesticides. However.... a lot of organic os grown with manure and who is to say what is in manure?!?! I think it isnt well enough worth it to go organic... And just because it is organic doesnt mean that you are going to get food that is free of bacteria (think baout the spinach recall because of e-coli.) Some non organic foods are also grown with very little pesticides so that is something you may want to think about..... I cant rememebr where I read it, but peaches / nectrnines have the highest amount of pesiticides on them for fruit (in general)
I think the more natural diet (wether you go with organic or not is good for many reasons...
A lot of packaged foods have gone through processing and the nutrients are taken out and afterwords a synthetic (sometimes) nutrient that was taken out will be putten back in wich is better than nothing, but the body doesnt use it as well as natural.
I would suggest eating a lot of salad and you can put soooo many differnt things in salads that are whole unprocessed foods. Also salad is cold and in its natural state- therefore you are not cooking it and taking out the nutrients. Fish like tuna is also good becuase of the omega 3 fatty acids wich are good for your heart as well as providing protien. BEans and legumes are also good for protien and some fiber. Try to see if there is a store near you that is a natural foods store.. they will have foods more in the natural state. Even for pastas and bread wich are not in their natural state but most bred is made with processed flour. THe natural foods store will more than likely have more "whole foods" and maybe flour and other things to make your own so you can avoid all thsoe preservatives. Also, if you have a farmers market try top check it out because the one we have where i live a lot of the local farmers use little or no pesticides. Also.. if you drink soft drinks or juices make sure to read the labels because many have hicg fructose corn syrup wich is bad for your body.. look for ones with more natural sugars or cane sugar. A good rule of thumb is when reading labels- the less ingredients the better it is for you. Also- if you cant pronounce the ingredients then it is probably something not needed.
As for a meal idea.. i dont have many but i found a recipe for tuna vegetable wraps that is very good.... I cant recall the exact but i can aproximate it for you....
1 can of tuna in water
2 cups of fresh veggies (i use zuchini, peppers and onion)- cooked just a little bit so they are still crispy but not super crisp
1 cup of black beans ( you can eve use organic)
1 cup of low fat sour cream ( this isnt as natural but still good for calcium)
mix all together in a bowl and put into wraps.. you can find whole wheat, organic, etc
I also will sometimes put some baby lettuce greens in mine... it makes i think 4 wraps but 1 will fill you up!
and drink lots of water!!!

Anyone makes their own dog food?
my dog hates the kibble(the round hard food). she currently eats only the green, red, and orange pieces of this:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B002VB鈥?/a>
which is not healthy at all. I guess she only eats those because it is soft? i have no idea. She has tried other brands, like beneful bits, and the moist and meaty.
Well i need a recipe for a softish dry food.
i am not worried about the complete nutrition recipes, she eats it with soft food(don't worry its healthy) I would prefer a grain free recipe.
and please no raw.
thanks!Anyone makes their own dog food?
The same thing happened to me. I recommend feeding Blue Buffalo or Castor and Pollux Organix. All you have to do, is put in 1/2 - 1 cup of warm water in her food, let it sit for about 5 minutes, and then give it to her to eat.Anyone makes their own dog food?
Why on earth do you want to feed your dog a grain free recipe? Your dog needs grains in its diet to be healthy, thats why nearly all dog foods have grains! When My pup is sick I give him a little rice with chicken broth (as low sodium as possible) and some bits of chicken. He loves it and it makes his tummy better. I suppose i could feed it to him every day if it wasn't a pain to prepare and expensive.
While looking for cookbooks online I found a book that has hundreds of recipes from a lot of the famous restaurants including Red Lobster, Applebee's, Olive Garden and The CheeseCake Factory just to name a few. It is loaded with great recipes that I love. Save Money - Just imagine the sheer amount of cash you will be able to save just by cooking these dishes yourself at home! Check it out if you want to; http://bit.ly/ePoirnAnyone makes their own dog food?
I've tried homemade food, but I only gave my dogs several nutritional deficiencies no matter what supplements I gave them, so I don't recommend it.
Feed her canned food then. It's better than kibble anyway.
Personally I'd feed pmr but whatever.Anyone makes their own dog food?
Why no raw? I cannot understand this whatsoever. That is the ONLY food that a dog should ever eat. It's what I feed, and even vets who are against it tell me how much healthier my dogs are than the kibble-fed dogs.
Also, Kibbles n' Bits is one of the WORSE dog foods to feed them, ever.
Try Taste of the Wild, WellnessCORE, Orijen, or Blue Wilderness. You can buy Blue Wilderness at Petsmart for about $45. I read somewhere on here that someone paid about $25(maybe $35) for Taste of the Wild.
EDIT;;
DO NOT buy Science Diet. Yuck. This food has an F in dog food nutrition.
EDIT TWO;;
People actually believe dogs need grains? That's crazy. Good job for wanting a grain-free diet XD But, yeah, Kibbles n' Bits and Beneful are VERY low on the nutrition scale. Read the ingredients. What I say is, if you can't pronounce it or have no idea what that certain ingredient is for, it's not useful.
In kibbles, there's a lot of things that do need to be added, but it doesn't make them as good as raw.
I forgot to mention that if you get canned food(PLEASE make sure it's good), give her bones that will help clean her teeth(unless you are okay with brushing her teeth regularly).
you should invest in something more expensive.like blue buffalo or science diet something like that in petco.my dog is very picky too she just only wants the cesar trays.but she cant have that all the time.or if she doesnt want too eat the little balls mix it with canned food.or some sauces they sell at petco .im sure he would love to eat that.

which is not healthy at all.
EDIT;;
DO NOT buy Science Diet. Yuck. This food has an F in dog food nutrition.
EDIT TWO;;
People actually believe dogs need grains? That's crazy. Good job for wanting a grain-free diet XD But, yeah, Kibbles n' Bits and Beneful are VERY low on the nutrition scale. Read the ingredients. What I say is, if you can't pronounce it or have no idea what that certain ingredient is for, it's not useful.

Feeding the right nutrition for my cat with flutd with a small budget?
My little angel sake has blocked twice in the past six month... Not sure what brought this, my guess is dry cat food diet and stress of moving to a new home with new kitty rules as well... either way i never want my little baby to go through this again. It was hard enough for me to see him go through this I can only imagine what he went through. Unfortunately my vet (a local VCA) wasn't very clear on how to prevent this from happening again (i asked a lot of questions). With the research I have done I know a raw food diet or a more better pricey brand of cat food is the best thing, the only problem is the lack of funds (lets just say my cats probably eat more than me). What I have been feeding them is purina special diet, it say it helps reducing urinary ph. I know that it is not the best but I figured it is the next best thing to dry food. So finally my question is are there any better canned foods or recipes to feed him that will make his urine is less crystally and also be affordable for me as well...
something you should know...
first:
I have two cats both boys. Sake (salmon in japanese) the one with flutd and Samson, he does not but we want to make sure he never does.
second:
I spend about 2.00 a day feeding them which come out to $60 dollars a month, but if budget more I can spend up to $90 to $100 dollars.
third:
For the past three month we have only feed them both canned food and created a less stressful environment, and since then he has not blocked but I am very paranoid.
Thank you all so much!!!Feeding the right nutrition for my cat with flutd with a small budget?
Canned will always be better than dry, but raw will always be best (if they will eat it and besides a few circumstances). It's actually cheaper than any high end food I used to feed. I have 3 large breed dogs and one of my cats on raw and I only spend about $80 per month!!!! It's been really great. I used to feed Innova EVO before and I probably spent somewhere around $200 per month. It will take some research and time but if you want the best, that's it. Catster.com is a good place to start, I post there all the time. There's a raw forum that will give you all the answers if you ask. If raw isn't for you, any high end canned food would probably be right around what your willing to pay. I recommend: EVO and Nature's Variety for grain free, which will benefit you the most but they are a bit pricey. Some other foods that are not as expensive: Wellness, Blue Buffalo, Felidae, Innova, California Natural.
GOOD LUCK!Feeding the right nutrition for my cat with flutd with a small budget?
Hm, sounds like a call for moist food. Not WET. Or DRY. Moist. Yes Moist. I hope little sake feels better!Feeding the right nutrition for my cat with flutd with a small budget?
Next best thing to dry food?
Boy even with the proof in front of you, you still have things very backwards
Dry foods is the reason your cat got blocked. It is the reason most cats get fat. It is the main reason cats get diabetes, crf, ibd, should I go on?
Repeat after me Dry food is not good for cats and shortens lives
You do not need 'special diet' For that money you can get top quality canned. Top quality is defined as gain free with a muscle meat as the first ingredient. If you cannot afford that or a raw diet (which isn't that expensive) then canned foods no gravy is fine and the problem won't happen again
Here is my normal food post
Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat鈥檚 health
Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingredient a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?

Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i鈥檚 and a host of other problems. Male cats are especially prone to blockages
from dry food. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process. ( Have a fat cat?)
Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.
http://www.catinfo.org/#My_Cat_is_Doing_鈥?/a>
You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all.

Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. I would rather feed a middle grade canned food then the top of the line dry food.

Vetinarian diets The reason your vet thinks so highly of the pet food they sell probably has more to do with money than nutrition. In vet school, the only classes offered on nutrition usually last a few weeks, and are taught by representatives from the pet food companies. Vet students may also receive free food for their own dogs and cats at home. They could get an Iams notebook, a Purina purse and some free pizza. http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04鈥?/a>

If you want to eliminate sugar that you use in coffee or in tea try stevia. It's an all natural herb sweetener that is calorie free and tastes better than sugar. Also, the most nutritional food on the planet is called spirulina. It's low in calorie and ultra nurtitious. you can bake with it, put it on cereal, etc. and it won't poison you like aspartame, splenda or other toxic artificial sweeteners. Also, up your fiber intake and get a good protein supplement. Here is some good info you can read. Hope this helps.

Does anyone have a sheet cake, angel food cake recipe?
My father's birthday is this month, as he's diabetic I'm trying to make a cake that's a bit better for him than the traditional birthday cake.
What I'd like to do is make a single sheet, 9x9 angel food sheet cake and frost it with a raspberry whipped cream frosting. (yeah, real healthy, I know)
The problem I'm having is every recipe I find for angel food cake needs to be baked in a tube pan. Does anyone have a recipe to bake it in a square (or round) cake pan?
I don't need answers like "Make it as normal and put it in a flat pan" unless you know for a FACT that due to the cooking tendencies of angel food cake, it won't be burned on the edges and raw in the center.Does anyone have a sheet cake, angel food cake recipe?
Mock Angel Food Sheet Cake
INGREDIENTS
4 1/2 cups cake flour
4 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups boiling water
16 egg whites
2 tablespoons baking powder
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Sift cake flour, sugar, and salt three times then stir in the boiling water. Let cool.
Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, baking powder, vanilla and almond flavorings until stiff peaks form. Fold into the flour mixture and pour batter into one ungreased 12x18 inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Cool cake inverted in pan, laying a tea towel underneath the cake to absorb the steam. Frost as desired once the cake is cooledDoes anyone have a sheet cake, angel food cake recipe?

Instead of using an angel food cake recipe, try a jelly roll cake recipe, which is baked flat in a 10x15" pan with higher sides than a normal cookie sheet pan. I've used the recipe in the Betty Crocker Cookbook with huge success.
Substitute some or all of the sugar with Splenda. Line the greased pan with parchment or waxed paper dusted with Splenda powdered sugar, and turn out the cake onto a large thin kitchen towel a minute after you take it from the oven.
Roll the cake up carefully with the towel and let it cool, so it holds the curled shape. Unroll the cake carefully and spread it with the raspberry whipped cream frosting.

Reviewed on Aug. 21, 2006 by chellebelle I scaled this to half using 2 cups of all purpose flour and put it in a jelly roll size pan lined with parchment paper (to make it easy to remove from the pan). I read another similar recipe that cooked at 400 degrees and since several reviwers said the cooking time indicated wasn't enough, I used the higer temperature. For my smaller batch, 15 minutes at 400 degrees worked perfectly. This is the oddest recipe ever but it really works, though you'll have your doubts when pouring boiling water into the flour mixture. The cake is just a bit heavier than traditional angel food, but that was good for my purposes, I wanted to make a rolled cake. I turned the very warm cake onto a tea towel dusted with powdered sugar and rolled it up till cool, then unrolled and filled with lemon filling. Frosted with whipped cream it was a very light and tasty dessert.

Simple yet delicious French food?
My french class is having "Fun Friday" and next week on the 23rd I am responsible in bringing in a french dish. The dish has to be able to serve 23 people and cannot contain raw meat or eggs. If we make mousse we cant use real eggs...those egg subs that u get in the carton. Any ideas? Recipes? Please don't suggest anything like croque madame or monsieur. Make sure its simple since im suppose the cook it (im 13) xP Thx^^Simple yet delicious French food?
How about french onion soup, french bread(bagette), make some crepes and fill them with some strawberrys.
FR onion soup
3 beef bullion cubes
3 chicken bullion cubes
brown 2 large onions in 3-4 T of butter and then add 4 1/2 cups of water, bullion cubes, and one 12 ounce beer. Add fresh ground pepper and salt to taste and simmer for 30 minutes
Serve with french bread toasted or whatever
The soup you get in restuarants has the bread dried or toasted and placed on top of the soup in a smal bowl and then covered with guyere cheese and cooked or broiled in a oven to make the cheese warm and browned on top. probable leave this step out and just throw on some croutons of the bread.Simple yet delicious French food?
EASY!!
Try French fries! The most tasty food to teenagers next to pizza.
They are extremely simple and easy to make: peel a potato, slice it, and place the slices in oil under a stove. Wait until they turn a bit brown et Voila!
Remember to serve with hot ketchup! I hope I helped.Simple yet delicious French food?

some plain flour, this is just for dusting the table so only a wee bit
a little bit of milk
apricot jam (no fruit bits if poss)
8-10 apples pick a crunchy one, don't get brambley ro a cooking one, get some red and some green ones
buy some tinnd pears or peaches too
a small bag of icing sugar/dusting sugar
if you want to go crazy get some nibbed/flaked almonds and toast them or dry fry them in a pan to toast them as a garnish
ok now to make it....
preheat oven to 180 deg C or gm 5/6
you need a rolling pin, baking trays lined either with grease proof paper or a good duting of flour will do..maybe three of these or if you have one bake them off in batches
ok..dust your surface with flour and roll out the pastry (best to keep it in the fridge until you use it)
try to keep rolling it into a rectangle shape, try hard, it makes for a better product
roll it out until it is about 3mm thick
drain the tinned fruit well and chop it up into small chunks, dry it off well on kitchen paper
slice your apples in half and remove the core or use a corer
then slice them, as if it was from the top to the bottom, dont cut across the way
then imaginethe pastry was divided into 12 and you are going to make 12 rectangle cakes out of the pastry, if it helps make a light mark where the 12 are but dont press to hard.
brush the sheet with beaten milk that has some sugar in it
in the middle of a rectangle place some of the (now dried off)tinned fruit so it fills just less than a third...repeat until you have 12 piles of fruit.
when you cut the pastry its important not to drag the kife...you must rock it from the tip to the base then move the knife down and repeat
(ok just quickly, boring but just so you know...puff pastry is referred to as a laminate dough (lots of layers, over 1000) so when it cooks the steam rises between each layer and knock the next one up, thats how it rises so much. Sooo what im saying is, if you drag the knife the layers are squashed and the pastry wont rise properly)
then cook off for about 20 mins, bring them out and put about 8 slices of your apples ontop fanned down the length of the fruit, then flash through the oven again for a few minutes.
The apricot jam will be the glaze, you should put that in a heavy based pan and add about 1/5 of the same in water. heat this up
be really careful as this can burn as it gets so hot, maybe get someone to help you with that...so i don't feel guilty :o)
nearly done....when the jam comes together..not too runny still thick...brush the jam over the pastries and sprinkle some of your toasted nuts ontop if you bought them..
you can make these the day before and cook them off in the morning of school
or make them the night before, but dont dust them with icing sugar until the day you are taking them in.
i promise they'll be a winner...and you'll be able to make them no probs!
just call them Petit Patisserie
Bon Chance mon amie :o)Simple yet delicious French food?
You could try Creme brulee it's delicious and pretty simple to make:
Recipe:
4 egg yolks
300ml whipping / double cream
vanilla pod
1 tablespoon caster sugar
demarara sugar (for crust)
Method
1) Heat the cream gently in a saucepan with the vanilla pod
2) Whisk the egg yolks and caster sugar together, then slowly pour in the warm cream, stirring continuously
3) Remove the vanilla pod and divide the mixture between the ramekins (little creme brulee dishes)
4) Put the ramekins in a roasting tin, and pour water into the tin until it is 2/3 of the way up the edges of the ramekins. Make sure water does not splash into the ramekins.
5) Put in a preheated oven (160-170 degrees C) for 30 minutes
6) Allow to cool (you can put them in a refrigerator to speed this up). They should be completely cold before the final stage.
7) Sprinkle a thick layer (3mm) of demarara sugar on top of each one. Put them under a high grill, close to the heat, until the sugar has melted together. Watch attentively! If the sugar is melting unevenly turn them around. Should take less than 5 minutes.
Or use a propane blowtorch if you have one to hand.
The creme brulee should now have a 'crunchy' top. Eat within 30 minutes or the crust will start to go soft.
Hope that is of some help, don't worry if you don't use the demarara sugar in Step 7, as its not needed but is nice to have.
Good luck

Try French fries! The most tasty food to teenagers next to pizza.
They are extremely simple and easy to make: peel a potato, slice it, and place the slices in oil under a stove. Wait until they turn a bit brown et Voila!

You answered your own question%26lt;g%26gt;. I prefer the cashew and tahini based ones as a general rule. The first link to aboverubies are all good recipes and they get swiped by other websites frequently!

You're most welcome! If you're getting into making cheese replacements I'll give you two tips that I've never seen mentioned about it (my other secrets *stay* secret%26lt;g%26gt;). If you use arrowroot instead of other binders the result tends to be a little stringier and instead of using plain salt use Flavacol! The buttery flavor makes a big difference in the final product.
Did you perchance notice that recipes from those first two links are copied on that advertisement laden site we both reviewed today%26lt;smirk%26gt;?What is seed cheese? a vegan analog to cheese?

How tomake Wet food flavoring for puppy?
My dog eats a little dry food. I feed him Orijen. But when i add a little Alpo wet food on his dry food. He devours like he hasnt eaten in days.
Orijen is already very expensive, adding Alpo wet food makes it a bit more expensive. Is there a recipe on how i can cook or make wet food? I can buy pork or chicken, then put whatever.. please help me on this.
I do not want to mix raw with dry food. So i need a recipe for cooked meat with sauce to be added to his dry food.
Thank you. :)How tomake Wet food flavoring for puppy?
Orijen is very good dog food, maybe your dog doesn't like the flavor you have, Orijen has a few different flavors. If your dog was eating enough food before you started adding the wet food, then I would just go back to giving him just the dry food, it might take a few days for him to realize that he's not going to get the wet food anymore and he'll start eating his dry food again. but if he wasn't eating enough before then I'd try a different flavor of the Orijen. How tomake Wet food flavoring for puppy?
My dogs eat nothing but dry food as their staple. But, if I put down wet dog food (even right after they have been fed) they will gobble it down like they are starved. Why? Cause that is exactly what the manufacturer wants to happen.
Stick to the dry dog food and add wet only on occasion as a small treat. IE a small amount. The more regular their diet the better for them. Also, dry dog food is better on their teeth in the long run.
Of course the most important thing here is not how much the food costs, but how healthy it is. If you are already feeding them a healthy dry dog food, then there is no reason to change that.
Make up a pint of chicken stock, normal way.
Keep it in the fridge.
When make your dog food, warm the stock and mix with food.
It can be kept and cheap.
If you make it fresh from chicken bone, it's won't harm dogs. How tomake Wet food flavoring for puppy?
Hi, you say your dog eats dry food, Orijen is very expensive and your are unhappy with your dog's behavior. I was also suffering from this condition, you want more tips about your dog's food and careness please visit to my source and you will find more tips on food and caring tips for your dog.
try just adding warm water to the dry food, i did it with my cocker spaniel who wasn't eating her dry food and now she eats it all. sometimes i also add a bit of cooked chicken or something else, but mostly just her dry food with warm water

I am wondering if it might be an idea to try a different flavour Orijen. My dog doesn't particulary like the the puppy or adult flavours, but loves Orijen Red. You can buy small sample size packs to try first rather than buy a big bag because it is expensive and the Orijen Red seems to be more expensive than the other flavours for some reason.
