Does anyone make their own cat food?

I currently make all my own dogfood (raw feeding) and I would love to do the same for the cats, but their nutrition needs are more complicated than with dogs so I'm a bit wary of starting.

Any recipes and experience in this?Does anyone make their own cat food?
I have been making my cats' food from ground organic chicken and ground organic turkey with a supplement powder (mostly for calcium) for seven years now.

It is not as difficult as people will make it out to be and it is easier to feed dogs a natural diet as you can cook some of the ingredients.

A great Yahoo group to join is WholeCatHealth. The members are feeding their cats raw, converting cats to raw, etc. You will have a source for a lot of recipes and support there. The group leader is quite outstanding in her knowledge of all things pertaining to good diets and health issues.

I've got a great website for you to go to look at and get the skinny on cat nutrition.

It is pretty extensive on why we should be feeding a species-specific diet to our feline friends. And easily understood too. You don't need a PHD in nutrition to understand it.

This wonderful vet really knows her stuff and is more than happy to answer your questions about feline nutrition. She is great!!
