Raw feeding question?

So... Since I've had my newest family member (a kitten) I've changed his food. What I ultimately want is for him to be on Prey Model Raw like my other animals. He was on Healthwise Chicken Meal %26amp; Rice Dry Cat and Kitten Food and I managed to wean him onto EVO Cat and Kitten Dry Cat and Kitten Food and EVO 95% Chicken %26amp; Turkey Canned Cat Food after he resisted changing to a raw diet.

Well I've just started weaning him onto BARF TURKEY Recipe for Cats but he still completely resists "whole raw foods" and is clinging onto his EVO dry.

Should I just let go and assume this is as far as he's willing to go to getting on a raw diet?

BTW here's the BARF information.

THANKS!Raw feeding question?
Keep trying. in the end if it does work out just know that your cat is still on a REALLY GOOD diet. EVO dry and barf patties are 300x better then what many cats are sentinced to eat daily like friskies, purina cat chow etc.Raw feeding question?
your new kitty is my kitty's twin!! so cute! some cats are just picky eaters and will plain refuse to eat anything they don't like... give him/her a few months and try to switch foods againRaw feeding question?
A few ideas. Have you tried mixing just a little of your turkey recipe with the canned EVO? I would start with only 10%-25% mixed into the EVO and not increase it for at least a week or 10 days, then to up to 1/3 etc. Doing it this way could take 4-6 weeks.

You could also put the turkey recipe aside for a while and try your kitten on different types of meat to see what he likes and how he likes it. Assorted sizes of cut up rabbit, chicken and turkey with and without bone, plus (not mixed with) small and large chunks of liver, heart or kidney.

I'd first try them on their own to see if he'll eat them. If not, mix with the EVO including small bones.

The problem could also be with the recipe you are using. If I were a cat I would probably object to the apples and carrots especially since both have a strong distinctive odor. Try leaving those out the next time.

You could also try either not grinding it or grinding only part of it. My own cats will eat some minced food but seem to prefer the small and large chunks.

Their favorite raw meal is cut up rabbit, bones and all with a chicken liver "appetizer". I leave most of it in pieces thumb-sized or larger except the liver which I mostly mince.

I also prepare some of their food using this product. I do not grind, I cut it up. I use chicken or rabbit most frequently.

This site also has plenty of information, including a section on changing a cat's diet (slowly).

And, although dry EVO is one of the best dry foods, I would keep the dry to just a minor part of his diet. Too many potential health problems associated with dry. Plus, at least with EVO, cats can develop an obession with it.

I know this because I use it as my cats' treat. I have come home to find the cabinet open and EVO dry gone (it is where they can't reach now). Now I mostly use it for a hunting game. I throw individual pellets around for them to catch or hunt for and find. They love the EVO game!

Anyway, I do think you can change his diet. It may just take longer than you had planned. I'd also lose the apple and carrot.

Good luck.Raw feeding question?
Check out the link I have provided, as it may give you some hints. Also, pay close attention to the required ingredients, as failure to have sufficient trace components will be detrimental for your cat, and you won't know that until it is too late. Taurine is a crucial component.

There are also links within that link that are important to check out.
