What exactly is agave, and where can I get it?

I was sharing a raw-food recipe book with my mom when we found agave in many recipes. My mom does not exactly know what is it, she just knows tequila is made of it.What exactly is agave, and where can I get it?

The sweetener you get from it is called Agave Nectar. It can be a replacement for honey and syrup. It's not good for baked recipes, as it gives the food a heavy, and sometimes rubbery, consistency. Raw-food vegans often use it in their recipes, though.

You can find Agave Nectar in Trader Joes, and I do believe I've seen it in Whole Foods but I'm not sure.
I've actually seen it in a lot of grocery stores. I have access to several health food stores in a nearby big city so when I first started eating healthy I went there all the time and since then I've found most of the ingredients that I like to use at the regular grocery stores. And I live in kind of a small hick town, so that's saying a lot. They have five varieties of it at the local Meijers. I've also spotted it at Krogers too. I found it in the baking aisle with the sugar. I've also seen it in the diabetic food section (apparently a lot of diabetics use it because it causes less of a bloodsugar spike). If you can't find it in a grocery store, you can always order it online.What exactly is agave, and where can I get it?
agave nectar is really good tasting, but bad for you, though people say its good for you. a health nut i know did a lot of research on it, i forgot whats bad about it. sorry.

you can buy it at health food stores, or maybe a hy-vee has it. it's a honey-like substance, a little runnier though.

Agave is natural sweetener, a healthier alternative to sugar. You can get some at trader joes- it looks like honey. It's really expensive and not that great though...
