I want to incorporate as raw food as I could into my diet during the summer. But I don't want want to fork out a couple of hundreds for a product that I will use a few times a year anyway. Does anyone know any good raw uncookbook or good sites with good amount of recipes that doesn't call for dehydration?
Thank you so much in advance.Raw without dehydrator?
Oh boy! I was a raw vegan for 30 years before I got my dehydrator. Back when I started, I don't even think there were dehydrators -- at least, I had never heard of them, and they were not mentioned in the two books I found with raw recipes.
I found out about dehydrators when my mom gave me a recipe book in 1999 -- I also learned about juicers that can "homogenize" vegetables and seeds into a paste at that time (I wrote to the author and asked how I could make those recipes without a juicer, and she told me I could use a food processor, but I would not get the same smoothness, and I did that for 4 more years!)
Most of the recipes for patties or pates can be made without a dehydrator -- they will just be more goodey.
Really, I mostly use my dehydrator for drying herbs, or for dealing with leftovers.
Check out http://www.living-foods.com/ for non-dehydrator foods. Just read the recipes, and, if they call for a dehydrator, decide for yourself if that would work without dehdyrating (usually, the answer will be yes) Actually, this site does not have a lot of dehydrated recipes.
You can also find a number of non-dehydrator recipes on my blog

While I do have a dehydrator, which I love, most of the things I prepare on a daily basis are non-dehydrator recipes. Please feel free to contact me for more recipes.Raw without dehydrator?
You can use your oven as a dehydrator if you do it carefully. I'd just go to a thrift store and get a dehydrator though. It will only cost maybe 20 bucks. If they don't have one at first, just keep looking every week or so. One will turn up soon. Or you can look on craigslist and probably find one pretty cheap.
I know thats not exactly what you asked for, but I'm not too good at raw cooking so its all I can give you. good luck!
