Such a shame to see that some people don't understand the benefits of raw feeding and are quick to judge others that do.
Khayos is correct, there is a ratio to feeding raw and that should include meat, bones and organs.
The standard ratio is 80/10/10. 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% organs.
I must admit that my dog gets a bit more than 10% bone. The important thing to keep in mind when balancing your dogs meals is to always check what is coming out the other end. If it's too hard and white then you are feeding too much bone, whereas if it's too soft then you need to add more bone to the diet.
There is a great forum you can get on and ask all the questions you want about raw feeding. The website is www.dogfoodchat.com. Go to the raw food section and sign in. I recommend going through some of the archives too because what you want to know has undoubtedly been asked before but don't be afraid to put your hand up and ask for help.
I learnt a hell of a lot about raw feeding in this forum and still refer back to it when I need to. It's great for newbie raw feeders.Raw food diet for dogs?
Go here for a booklet ($7.95) on raw diets that are balanced so you don't have to worry about not feeding the right amount of vitamins and minerals and you will be feeding a well balanced diet;

Feeding raw is more than simply throwing some raw food into a dish and calling it balanced, and the percentages you see on the net are not necessarily correct either.
Glad to see you're exploring the possibility. There are two good books on the subject. Carina MacDonald wrote "Raw Dog Food: Make It Easy for You and Your Dog". Ian Billinghurst, BVSc, wrote "The BARF Diet: Raw Feeding for Dogs and Cats Using Evolutionary Principles". Both books are recommended by The Whole Dog Journal.Raw food diet for dogs?

Why do people do this? Go to the store and buy a good quality kibble for you dog. That is all it needs. People who insist this raw diet is good for their dog, are mistaken.Raw food diet for dogs?
